For the first event of MICT we decided to present a few gems of Ukrainian cinema, with the support of the Permanent Representation of Ukraine to the Council of Europe, who has graciously provided the films.
After long and heated debates, we have chosen 3 feature films to give a quick overview of the foundations of Ukrainian film and a glimpse on contemporary cinema perspectives.
We hope that you will appreciate the artistic variety and political audacity of these films. They can also give you a view on the complicated history of Ukrainian identity under Soviet influence.
To kick off this series of projections in Ukrainian style, a small cocktail will be provided before the first film on 23 March 2010 at 12:00pm in the main hall of the Council of Europe Palace in front of the Projection Room.
The films will all be shown in the Council of Europe Projection Room in the 'Palais de l'Europe'.
If you would like to see a film but don't have a Council of Europe badge, please contact us at mict@smatsch.org to arrange for an invitation at least 72hrs in advance of projection times.
